Woman injured after becoming pinned under mower

COWLEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – A 59-year-old woman was injured Sunday when she was pinned under a mower.

Around 1:25 p.m., Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies, Atlanta fire, Burden fire and Winfield EMS were dispatched to the 4000 block of 307th Road for the report of a woman trapped under a mower. 

Responders arrived. The woman, identified as Virginia Emmons, had been freed and CPR was started. She was transported to Wesley Hospital in Wichita by Eagle Med.

Authorities learned the mower had become stuck in the mud, and another person tried pull the mower out. At some point, the mower flipped, and Emmons became pinned under it. 

The incident is still under investigation.
