WPD officer suffers minor injuries after squad car struck at accident scene

A Wichita police officer is recovering after suffering minor injuries early Saturday morning. 

WPD Police Chief Gordon Ramsay tweeted about the accident Saturday. According to Chief Ramsay, the officer recieved minor injuries after his squad car was struck while he was at an accident scene on I-135. 

Chief Ramsay also said another occupied squad car was struck at a different location.

“Please slow down when you see emergency vehicles and keep our first responders safe,” urged Police Chief Ramsay on Twitter.

The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan (EARP) is also in effect until further notice. Wichita police say if you are involved in a non-injury accident, you should exchange information with the other driver involved and fill out an accident report at the nearest QuikTrip, Kwik Shop, online at wichitapolice.com, on the WPD App or at any police station Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
