Students at Wichita State have a better idea of what the new dorms will look like. The floor plans have just been released.
Still under construction, The Suites residence hall will accommodate about 220 students.
” It really updates the campus and expands it a lot,” said one Wichita State University student.
” It will give you more of an option between a kind of traditional dorm style and a higher end. It’s a better alternative than trying to find an apartment off campus,” said another Wichita State University student.
This week WSU released floor plans of the one to four bedroom units. Each suite comes with a kitchenette, private bathrooms, washer and dryer and living room.
” What’s really exciting about this building is that it is primarily single bedrooms which we are seeing our students are wanting to still have that community where they live with other students in a suit style building but they still want a little bit of that privacy,” said Mandie Craven Associate Director of Business Operations with WSU Housing and Residence Life.
It’s the first hall to allow a mixture of first year students and upperclassmen. To live in the new dorms will cost students about $3,400 to about $4,500 per semester. Craven says the new dorm falls in line with all the ongoing expansion at WSU.
“It’s exciting to see the growth and I think the community seeing the growth has sort of re-energized this area of Wichita,” said Craven.
Students can apply now to live in The Suites residence hall. It’s expected to be ready for move in fall of next year.
