Zumba instructors shimmy and shake to remember Bobbie Haydon

The Boston Recreation Center was alive with disco balls and club music on Friday evening.

Zumba instructors from all over Kansas came to Wichita for a Zumbathon fundraiser, benefitting the family of Bobbie Haydon. Haydon was a city of Wichita parks and recreation Zumba instructor who passed away unexpectedly in February.

“She was truly one of those people that always had a smile on her face and tons of energy. When she walked in the room, everyone was so excited. She made them laugh, she made them smile and this is a great way we can honor her,” Zumba instructor Crystal Wiley said.

The “Zumba in the Club” event fit Haydon perfectly, her daughter told KSN. Haydon was certified in several types of Zumba, including Zumba Kids and Aqua Zumba.

Proceeds from the two hour Zumbathon benefit Haydon’s two daughters, Sunny and Gabbrielle.

“We’re all connected so it’s going to be more of a support thing than grieving. We’re just going to get through it all together,” Sunny said.
