Weeks after the disappearance of a pregnant mother and her two children captured the nation’s attention, loved ones gathered to say their goodbyes to Shanann Watts and her two young children.
A heartfelt tribute to Shanann Watts and her children.
“I can only pray to you that this tragedy changes everyone’s soul to be close to you,” said Fr. John Forbes.
Friends and family gathered in Pinehurst, North Carolina to remember the mom and two kids killed nearly two weeks ago.
“Shanann, Bella Marie, Celeste and Nico are present here with us today,” said Fr. John Forbes. “Not just their physical bodies, but their souls as well.”
Shanann’s husband, Chris Watts, has been charged with their murders.
Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant, and her two daughters were first reported missing on August 13.
The day after their disappearance, her husband spoke to local media.
“I just want them back… I just want them to come back,” said Chris Watts in a media report.
For days, state and federal authorities combed Frederick, Colorado for clues. They ultimately discovered Shanann’s body in a shallow grave on the property of a petroleum company where her husband had been employed.
The bodies of the couple’s two kids — four-year-old Bella Marie and three-year-old Celeste Cathryn — were found nearby, submerged in oil and gas tanks.
Chris Watts has been arraigned on nine charges including first-degree murder, tampering with a body and unlawful termination of a pregnancy.
