One dead in motorcycle crash in western Sedgwick County


SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – One person was killed in a motorcycle crash in western Sedgwick County late Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred on US 54 Highway near 295th Street West.  That’s near Garden Plain which is west of Wichita.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the motorcycle was headed eastbound on US 54 and for an unknown reason drifted into the median ans struck a raised portion of the median. The motorcycle and its rider overturned and came to rest in the westbound lanes.

KHP identified the driver as 39-year-old Joshua Cape of Cheney.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

KHP said Cape was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
