One person injured after truck is struck by train in Butler Co.


BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – According to Butler County authorities, a vehicle and a train have collided in rural Butler County.

The crash happened near NW 130th Street and between Butler Road and Prairie Creek Road around 6:30 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said a pickup truck was traveling on NW 130th when the driver ignored a railroad crossing warning and was struck by a train. The truck then spun off the train engine and wound up in a field. The driver of the pickup suffered only minor injuries. The truck was destroyed.

Because the incident occurred near the Harvey County line, Harvey County EMS responded to the crash.
