WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Wichita Police Department (WPD) arrested Diane Simmons,48, of Wichita for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and Maurice Simmons,46, of Wichita for aggravated domestic battery and a city of Wichita misdemeanor warrant.
Officers responded to a shooting call on the 1200 block of North Ash just after 3 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers located Maurice Simmons with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation revealed that Maurice Simmons was involved in a disturbance with Diane Simmons, with whom he was involved in a dating relationship previously. The disturbance turned physical, at which point Diane Simmons allegedly retrieved a gun and shot the 46-year-old in the arm.
The case will be presented to presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Wichita Police Department (WPD) said a man in his 50’s was shot in the upper body Thursday afternoon on the 1240 block of North Ash.
Police say the shooting happened just after 3 p.m.
“We arrived on him in the front yard, ” said Sgt. Larry Bray. ” There was a person here in the house who said she had shot him during a fight.”
According to WPD, the man was shot in the arm and was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
WPD is still investigating the incident.
