Stanton County Sheriff arrested for domestic violence

JOHNSON CITY, Kan. (KSNW) – The Sheriff of Stanton County in southwest Kansas has been charged with domestic violence and two other crimes in a criminal complaint.

In a criminal complaint filed by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, Sheriff Cody L. Morris has been charged with one count of domestic battery, one count of criminal restraint and one count of criminal damage to property.  The victim in the alleged incidents was Kristy Morris, a family member.

The complaint says the incident occurred on August 28, 2016 in Stanton County.

KSN has contacted both the Stanton County attorney and the Kansas Attorney General’s Office to determine whether Morris is still employed or is on leave or suspension.  We’ll update this story when we get more information.
