HUTCHINSON, Kansas – A tornado has touched down during a severe thunderstorm that moved through south-central Kansas.
Reno County emergency specialist Evan Seiwert says the tornado was reported three miles southeast of Nickerson on Monday evening. He said there were reports of a cabin and a farm house being destroyed.
Todd Strain with Reno County Emergency Management says power lines were also down. No injuries have been reported.
Strain said some parts of Reno County received 2 ½ to 3 inches of rain. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Reno, Rice, McPherson and Harvey counties.
