UPDATE: Investigators arrest two in connection with murder of teenager in Calhoun


UPDATE (5:45pm) Investigators with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office have identified two men they say shot and killed a teenager Wednesday in Calhoun.

They say 18 year old Christoper Florez and 18 year old Gavin Karty are charged in the death of 19 year old Kiara Elee. Deputies say Florez shot and killed Elee during an argument.

The investigation by Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Investigators into a homicide earlier today on Brownlee Road in Calhoun has led to the arrest of two suspects.

Christopher D. Florez, age 18 of Calhoun, has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Felony Obstruction of Justice.
Gavin Bernard Karty, age 18 of Calhoun, has been charged with one count of Obstruction of Justice.

The victim, Kiara Elee, was allegedly shot and killed by Florez during an argument. Both have been booked in OCC on the charges.


(3/27/19) The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in a fatal shooting that happened late Wednesday morning.

Deputies tell us 19-year-old Kiara Elee, of Eros, was fatally shot in the 200 block of Brownlee Road in Calhoun.

Deputies arrived on scene to find Lee deceased. 

The investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is currently underway.
