Justin Bjork – Former Candidate for Wichita BOE – District 2

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Even though voters in USD 259 District 2 will see Justin Bjork’s name on the ballot, he no longer wants the Wichita Board of Education seat. On Oct. 2, he announced that he dropped out of the race and supports candidate Julie Hedrick.

In his letter to the media, Bjork said his choice to leave was not as difficult as his previous decision to enter the race.

My former opponent, Julie Hedrick, has proven herself, in recent months, to be thoughtful, disciplined and wholly interested in the well-being of the students and staff at Wichita Public Schools.

“Additionally, the other challenger in the race, Brent Davis, holds extreme views and his partisan agenda would be a distraction on the Board of Education. If I were to remain in this race, I fear he will have the opportunity to win without a majority vote. My endorsement of Julie is the best decision for the outcome of this race and the future of all of our students.”

Bjork ended the note by saying that he will vote for Hedrick and wants others to vote for her, too.
