Position on the Kansas Budget:
The Kansas budget has to be addressed in a realistic way. No longer may we rely on cannibalizing various departments because of shortfalls created by a failed tax experiment.
Position on School Funding:
The State Supreme Court ruling is a good start. Our greatest resource is our children and their education. We must bring back the exemplary stature of our schools.
Position on Economy & Taxes:
Taxes have to be restored to levels before the big “experiment”. Upon returning our state to a good economic standing I fully support working on lowering taxes in a fashion that does the most for our citizens. With agriculture our leading industry in the state, working to solidify our markets and open new ones.
Position on Health Care:
To start, Medicaid must be expanded in Kansas, the loss of rural hospitals is not acceptable. The next step is working with our national legislatures to create Medicare for all.
Position on Immigration:
Our immigration system needs some work, but being a nation of immigrants we must work to make a simple path to citizenship and a workable path for temporary workers.
Highest Priority Issue in Office:
As a country that prides itself on its strides toward equality for all, our state must work on returning to the belief that voting in this country is a right for all citizens not a privilege to be regulated by bigoted individuals.
What needs to change in our state government?
This is a simple answer. Transparency in government. Gut and switch, late night back room deals, high handed pressure tactics all need to end.
