WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Debate over mask mandates in schools has state and national lawmakers weighing in on the candidates, causing many to keep a close eye on school board races across the state.
For USD 259 in Wichita, this election cycle saw three of the four school board seats up for grabs won by challengers. Julie Hedrick in District 2 is the only incumbent keeping her seat for the next four years.
Former USD BOE Representative for District 1 Ben Blankley, tweeted after his loss to thank his competition, Diane Albert, for running a respectful campaign, how proud he is of his accomplishments in his position and that he is not going anywhere as he is a USD 259 parent and community volunteer.
