LAWRENCE, Kan. (KSNW) – According to a statement from Les Miles on Tuesday afternoon, running back Khalil Herbert is no longer with the KU football program, amid speculation.

Players maintain a year of eligibility if they play no more than four games in a season.

Earlier we reported that KU running back Khalil Herbert sat out of the team’s most recent game against TCU for “personal reasons.” Because the game against TCU was the fifth this season, Herbert now has the option to redshirt this year. If he redshirts, he would become eligible to play next season.

This season, Herbert recorded two touchdowns for 384 rushing yards for the Jayhawks.
