Cheney falls in overtime thriller 55-52 to Royal Valley

The 3A Girls State Basketball Championships wrapped up in Hutchinson today as Cheney and Royal Valley squared off for the title.

Royal Valley would jump out to the lead early on a three pointer from Menon Irving.

However, Cheney would take the lead and be up five, 24 to 19 at halftime.

The second half would be a seesaw affair that saw the game all knotted up at 46 at the end of regulation.

In overtime, Royal Valley would be in control and come out with the 55 to 55 win.

The state title is the first ever for the Lady Panthers.
