WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Bishop Carroll baseball team is flying high right now, sitting at 11-0 for the season.
The team has a couple more games coming up and hope to continue their winning ways to return to the 5A state championship game. But this time, they’re hoping for a different outcome.
“It’s about getting to the state championship, to be playing in that last game of the season and winning that ball game,” says head coach Charlie Ebright. “I mean that’s the ultimate focus for us.”
The Golden Eagles are on the fast track to return to Eck Stadium where the top teams meet, and players say what’s working for them is taking this season step by step.
“I think having the one pitch at a time mindset is the best way to do it, and adjusting pitch to pitch and going off our pitchers and how well they’re doing and just backing them up,” says Senior Carsen Pracht. “And they’ve been doing a great job, so it’s pretty easy for us.”
If you ask the players, they’ll tell you there is no secret to why they’re winning. They say it’s a one team, one goal mindset they share within.
“I think our chemistry is very good, and that’s what helps us a lot,” says Pracht. “We have very good chemistry and all these guys are really close and that probably is the biggest thing.”
