Local Sports

The finals at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship on the Web.com Tour had some flair for the dramatics.

Part of the field, former Kansas State golfer Robert Streb.

Streb came into the event ranked 178th in the FedEx Cup standings and looking to regain full PGA Tour status.

Streb ended the final round of the championship in a tie with his friend, Peter Malnati.

After one playoff hole, Streb was able to take home the title.

“The ball stayed in play which was helpful, you know, the first two days felt like I putted it really well and had some moments here the last two days, but, you know, I’m pretty excited to be here at the end,” said Streb.

Streb graduated from Kansas State in 2009.
