For the 15th year, several local sports figures got their named called as inductees into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.
Ten local legends were all inducted into the hall of fame Saturday afternoon.
WSU Head Coach Gregg Marshall was one of the inductees, but was unable to attend the ceremony due to a recruiting trip.
Pelfrey, a star pitcher at Wichita Heights and Wichita State University played 11 seasons for four teams in the MLB.
During his five minute induction speech, Pelfrey touched on the important roles his coaches and family have played in his success.
“It was cool and obviously behind every good athlete, every good coach, there is a strong support group, which I talked about, and there are some influences along the way, coaches and other players that help make, you know, your dreams possible,” said Pelfrey.
The 2012-13 Wichita State Shockers basketball team was also inducted into the hall of fame.
Athletic Director Darren Boatright accepted the award on behalf of the team.
