The Wichita Force were looking to move up in the standings and position themselves for a shot at a spot in the Champions Indoor Football League playoffs.
However, the Salina Liberty had other plans, as they came into town and took out the Force, 56-47 at Intrust Bank Arena.
Early in the first quarter, Force were looking locked in.
Up 3-0 and driving, Rocky Hinds was able to dance around in the pocket long enough to hit Edward Smith Jr. on a crossing pattern in the end zone, making it 10-0.
The Force would be up 38-21 at half time, but the second half would be a much different story.
A blocked field goal by the Liberty in the fourth quarter would result in some tempers flaring, as a few punches were thrown once the play was ruled dead.
On that ensuing drive, Derrick Bernard was able to find Rashad Pargo in the end zone.
Bernard would also tack on a touchdown as time expired to push the score to 56-47.
The loss drops Wichita’s record to 4-7 on the season.
The Force will be back home for their regular season finale on Sunday, June 10th.
They will square off against the Duke Gladiators at 4:05 p.m.
