Local Sports

It’s a chance for some of the best and brightest young golf stars to showcase their skills on the links.

The third U.S. Kids Golf Tournament as part of the Wichita Local Tour was held at Reflection Ridge Country Club on Sunday.

The Wichita Local Tour consist of 11 kids that are rated in the top 60 in the World, ages 5-14.

This is one of 60 local tours in the United States.

Sabrina Esterline, the Wichita Local Tour Director says the U.S. Kids Golf Local Tours are created to provide boys and girls, ages 5 to 14, the opportunity to advance their skills in the game in age-appropriate competition without having to take the time and incur the costs of having to travel long distances.

Esterline says, so far this season, they have played at Crestview and Wichita Country Club during the Spring Season.

She says overall, they have 18 golfers, ages 5-14, that have qualified for 2018 World Championships at Pinehurst this coming Summer.

The Wichita Local Tour will continue next weekend at Willowbend Country Club.
