Local athletes shine at Water Ski National Championships

MAIZE, Kan. (KSNW) - The 76th annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships continued Thursday at the Mystic Lakes Ski Club in Maize.

More than 720 water ski athletes – the largest field of competitors at the Nationals since 2010 – from across the United States are competing for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions during the five-day tournament that culminates Saturday.

Competition continues Friday at 7 a.m. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The inaugural America’s Cup Invitational will also be held on Friday at the Mystic Lakes Ski Club.

The event will feature U.S. athletes competing in men’s and women’s slalom, tricks, jumping and overall with a total cash-prize purse of $40,000.
