It was an important game for two teams battling for a playoff spot in the ECHL.
The Allen Americans came in with a 34-27 record, including six overtime losses and two losses by shootout.
They were only one game up on the Wichita Thunder and both squared off on the ice at Intrust Bank Arena Tuesday night.
The game was scoreless through the first period. That would all change early on in the second.
With 15:36 to go in the period, Forward Chad Butcher got the Thunder on the board, scoring the first goal of the game.
The Thunder would top the Americans 2-1.
Both teams have identical records, but the Thunder own the tiebreaker, and now sit in third place in the Mountain Division.
