The Wichita Wizards were back on the hardwood on Sunday, a day after cruising to an 80 point win agains the Topeka Rail Runners on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Wizards played host to the Kansas City Grillers at the Garvey PE Center at Friends University.

They picked up right where they left off on Saturday, using a high octane offense to tally a 142-118 win over the Grillers.

Guards and twin brothers Briston and Brison White put on a show for the crowd.  Briston would get Player of the Game honors in the win.

The White brothers spoke after the game about the win.

“We wanted to stay kind of strong to our principles, coach wanted us to focus on our rebounding and defense, but I wouldn’t say we got an under matched opponent today, but we were able to exploit them in some situations, the mindset stays the same as yesterday, just playing hard and play together,” said Brison White.

They also touched on what has been working for the team and how much they enjoyed getting a win on their birthday.

“It plays with defense, getting the ball, getting the rebound, and just taking straight off, looking up the court and getting it to the open man, just getting to the rim and getting to the free throw line,” said Briston White.

Head coach Jermaine Brown touched on how tight knit the team is.   It’s something he says has contributed to the 3-0 start to the regular season for the Wizards in their first year in the Minor League Basketball Association.

“It goes back to these guys really loving to play with each other, and when you’ve got chemistry and a team full of guys who really love being around and playing with each other, it’s a recipe for success,” said Brown.

The Wizards will hit the road to play the Greenville Blazers next Sunday.
