The Wichita State Shockers softball team played spoiler on the ECU Pirates senior day.
The Shockers jumped out to a three-run lead in the top of the first inning.
Ryleigh Buck singled into shallow right field, putting the Shockers on the board early on.
Bailee Nickerson followed that with a hard hit single past the shortstop to get another runner home.
The Shockers capped off their hot start with a Madison Perrigan sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
Perrigan would add a home run in the sixth inning to push the lead to 5-1, which ended up being the final score.
Bailey Lange (17-10) breezed to the easy one-run complete game victory.
The Shockers (29-18, 11-7) now sit in second in the American Athletic Conference heading into their final series of the year.
The regular season championship will be on the line when the Shockers head to Tampa next weekend to play the USF Bulls. The Bulls are a game up on Wichita State.
