Five more Shockers drafted on day three of MLB Draft

 Five Wichita State baseball student-athletes were drafted during the final day of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.
 
Dayton Dugas, a junior outfielder from Lake Charles, La., was taken in the 16th round by the Detroit Tigers and Keylan Killgore, a redshirt sophomore left-handed pitcher from Wichita, Kan., was taken in the 17th round by the Philadelphia Phillies. Trey Vickers, a senior shortstop from Lee’s Summit, Mo., was taken in the 30th round by the Washington Nationals and Cody Tyler, a senior left-handed pitcher from Terrell, Texas, was taken in the 32nd round by the San Diego Padres. Luke Ritter, a junior utility player from Overland Park, Kan., was taken in the 37th round by the Minnesota Twins.
 
In 2018, Dugas hit .250 with 27 runs, 36 hits, six doubles, one triple, five home runs, 14 RBI and five stolen bases.
 
Killgore made 24 appearances this season with one start. He went 4-1 with a 2.54 ERA and struck out 40 in 39 innings.
 
Vickers hit .287 with 23 runs, 41 hits, eight doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI. He finished his career as the all-time Shocker leader in sacrifice hits with 22.
 
Tyler made 22 appearances out of the bullpen and went 4-1 with a 4.40 ERA and one save. He also struck out 38 in 30.2 innings pitched.
 
Ritter earned first team all-conference honors in 2018 as he led the Shockers with a .341 batting average. He finished with 56 runs, 76 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 31 RBI and six stolen bases.
 
Wichita State had 10 players taken in the 2018 draft, which ties the school record for most players drafted in a season. The 1999 and 2008 teams also had 10.
 
Two Shocker signees were also drafted. Jake Plastiak was drafted in the 28th round by the San Diego Padres and Connery Peters was drafted in the 38th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
