It was a great day in downtown Wichita, as the Wichita State Shockers faced off against Southern-Miss University.
Shocker fans showed up to this game and wore their yellow and black with pride. And get this, some fans, traveled hundreds of miles to be there.
“Go Shocks, Go Shockers.”
Hundreds of Shocker fans filled Intrust Bank Arena Saturday. Lorene Danielson was one of them, who came from California. She said Shocker games are a family tradition.
“Come here every year, it’s our annual game,” said Lorene Danielson, California.
It was a similar story for other families, like the Grahams from Madison, Wisconsin.
“We don’t get much of a chance to see the Shocks up in our part of the country so this is an annual trip,” said the Graham family.
Many local families showed off their Shocker spirit.
“I got a Shocker sweatshirt,” said a fan.
“I went to Wichita State and support them and he loves Wichita State,” said a fan.
“We’re big Shocker fans and we love to come out we can bring the whole family,” said a fan.
However the game ended, fans assured me they would still count it as a good game. But some told me they knew the Shocks would leave winners.
“I think it’s going to be a blowout, I think it’s going to be a blowout, go Shocks,” said a fan.
