Report: Wichita State set to hire Lou Gudino as assistant coach

With former Shockers assistant Donnie Jones having left for Dayton, Gregg Marshall had an opening to fill on his coaching staff. If recent reports are any indication, Marshall has found Jones’ replacement.

College Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman has announced that Wichita State plans to hire Lou Gudino to fill Jones’ spot. Gudino is currently the associate head men’s basketball coach at New Mexico State. That means he is currently working for Aggies head coach Chris Jans, who spent several years as an assistant under Marshall at Wichita State.

Gudino has some coaching experience in the Sunflower State, having been an assistant at Barton Community College in Great Bend in 1999-2000.
