Shockers take DC, meet President Trump ahead of Veterans Classic

WASHINGTON (KSNW) - The Wichita Shockers Men's Basketball team arrived in Washington, D.C. Wednesday for a quick trip to the Nation's Capitol before playing in the Veterans Classic on Friday.

Photos posted to the Go Shockers Twitter page showed the team enjoying the sites as they visited the White House and Capitol Hill, among others.

The Roundhouse reports that perhaps the most surprising treat of the trip was meeting President Donald Trump.

The team called it a "once-in-a-lifetime experience" saying basketball is taking them places they never thought they could go.

The Shockers will face Providence in the opening act of Friday's Veterans Classic at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The tipoff is scheduled for just after 5:00 p.m. CT.

WSU is the third American Conference team to participate in the annual tournament, hosted by Navy.
