Three more Shockers baseball players drafted on day two


Three Wichita State baseball student-athletes were drafted during the second day of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.

Codi Heuer, a junior right-handed pitcher from Windsor, Colo., was taken in the sixth round by the Chicago White Sox. Gunnar Troutwine, a senior catcher from Fairway, Kan., was taken in the ninth round by the Chicago White Sox. Chandler Sanburn, a senior right-handed pitcher from Avon, Ind., was taken in the ninth round by the Texas Rangers.

In 2018, Heuer went 6-5 with a 4.31 ERA in 15 starts as the Shocker ace. He threw two complete games and struck out 82 in 79.1 innings.

Troutwine earned first team all-conference honors and hit .302 with 34 runs, 55 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 48 RBI.

Sanburn made 28 appearances out of the bullpen as the Shocker closer. He had nine saves with a 2.94 ERA. He struck out 53 in 33.2 innings.
