RUSSELL, Kan. (KSNW) — The KSN Summer Road Trip arrived at the Russell County Historical Society, 825 N. Kansas St., around 2 p.m. Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to stay “Hi!”
Russell is most well known for its native son, Senator Bob Dole. The community celebrates his service to our country with a marker at his boyhood home and with a large exhibit at the Russell County Historical Society.
About 4,500 people call Russell home, the county seat of Russell County. The regional hospital is a major employer and provider of health services to those in the surrounding area.
The county is ranked fifth in the state for oil production. It also has a huge hand in agriculture and agricultural businesses.
According to the Russell County visitor’s guide, Outdoor Life Magazine ranked Russell #18 on its list of “Best Hunting and Fishing Towns in the U.S.” Also, nearby Wilson Lake was ranked #86 of the “Top 100 Lakes Nationwide” by Bass Masters Magazine.
