WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita firefighters battled a large house fire in south Wichita.
The first call came out around 8:15 p.m. reporting the fire on Broadway in the area of Gilbert.
The fire was very intense, and crews were pulled out of the house. Officials on the scene said they do not believe anyone was living in the house and that the house was vacant.
The fire is now under control. However, when crews first arrived to the scene, the fire was spreading quickly, making the fire extremely dangerous.
Crew also had to work around power lines that were surrounding the house.
“The lines were on fire, no lines actually went down. Westar was called and they controlled the service,” said Captain Colby Roberson, WFD. “The tree in the front yard was on fire as well.”
An investigation is being conducted to determine what caused the fire.
