The Wichita State Shockers baseball team knows for sure they’ll have their manager back next season.
The school announced Friday that Todd Butler will return for his sixth season.
However, Butler knows he’ll probably be without two of his best players when things ramp up next Spring.
Third baseman Alec Bohm and Outfielder/First baseman Greyson Jenista are likely to hear there names called when the Major League Baseball Draft kicks off Monday night.
Bohm, a junior, is considered by some to be an early first round pick.
In 57 games this year, he .339, with 16 home runs and 55 RBI’s.
As for Jenista, the lefty hit .309 at the plate with nine home runs. He also drove in 38 runs and 12 stolen based in the 56 games he appeared in this season.
“When those guys were freshman, and we were taking our lumps, I’m sitting there going, these two, among some other players, those two had the highlights, those are two of the better players in college baseball and Alec Bohm is still up for the golden spikes award and we will see how that turns out,” said Butler.
The first round of MLB Draft is set to start at 7 p.m EST on Monday.
