RAIN! Yes, we are looking at another good chance of rain through the day and a better chance of heavy rain later tonight and tomorrow morning. Not expecting any severe weather for us here in Wichita. There could be some stronger storms in far southeast Kansas. Back at home, we will hold onto this light drizzle all day long!
As of now, temperatures are also pretty mild. We sit in the 50’s and 60’s for the Wichita area and North-Central Kansas. However, colder temperatures have settled into South-West Kansas and North-West Kansas.
Temperatures will warm back into the upper 60’s and 70’s across the Wichita area. It will stay a little cooler towards the western part of the state. If we get a little sun … we could see temperatures reach 70.
There is a chance of a few thunderstorms. The better chance of storms will be late tonight and into tomorrow morning. We shouldn’t see any severe weather with this. Just a few rumbles and some lightning. For this reason, SPC is keeping us in the general risk for severe weather. Meaning, severe weather is not likely, but a few general thunderstorms can be expected.
Most of the day we will hold onto the clouds and this light mist. The heavier showers look to return around 10 tonight. This isn’t going to be a huge flood event. However, some heavier rain can be expected. Again, this won’t take us out of the drought, but it will help.
More rain will linger through the day tomorrow. This will also bring a good chance for our friends in SW Kansas. Some areas in SW Kansas could get around a tenth of rain. Not a soaker, but this is the best chance of rain that we’ve seen in awhile for SW Kansas. Wichita is looking at a good chance of showers and storms hanging out, but clearing later in the evening Tuesday.
Wrapping it all up – Keep the umbrella handy the next couple of days. We are done with the severe weather chances (for now). This looks to help with our drought situation.
I’ll talk more about this rain in my full forecast today at Noon. Don’t miss it. 🙂
