Derricks Discussion – Severe weather possible for most of next week

Weather Blog

An active weather week will be in the area across Kansas.

Storms will continue this evening in NW and SW Kansas. These storms will get stronger over the next couple of hours. A few of these storms will have the possibility of bringing quarter size hail, but the majority of the stronger storms will stay east today. Tonight, the storms wrap up with a few clouds. Lows fall into the 50’s and 60’s with strong winds from the south.

Tomorrow, we will start off with lots of sun and mild temperatures. Temperatures continue to warm through the afternoon and evening. As temperatures start to get warmer, this will help fuel the chance of stronger storms later in the evening.

Severe weather potential then increases for tomorrow. Parts of western Kansas will be under a slight risk to see severe weather. These storms will start to get organized around 2 in the evening. These storms will be very hit and miss and many areas won’t even see rain. Storms will lose their energy as the sun sets. This will leave a couple of non-severe storms through the overnight hours.

Tuesday, storms will get even stronger. This is when we will pour our attention into NC and SC Kansas. This will bring severe storms across parts of Kansas. All modes of severe weather will be possible. This will be something we watch over the next few days.

Active weather looks to stick around Kansas through Thursday. Friday, the active weather looks to come to an end. This will setup a gorgeous weekend.
