Summer weather has been around the past couple of days, but changes are about to take place here in Kansas. Severe storms get organized towards Kansas City with tornadoes possible in some areas Friday. While the severe weather is taking place in East Kansas, NW Kansas will be dealing with Blizzard conditions with 3-7 inches of snow possible Friday.
The bulk of the snow looks to be towards Nebraska and I-70 in NW Kansas. Accumulating snow will be a problem, but the winds will be worst. Some wind gusts will get upwards of 70+ MPH. Some light snow also possible towards SW Kansas.
Tonight, everything stays quite. Temperatures will really start to drop in NW Kansas and will drop more come tomorrow. Everyone stays clear tonight. Wichita stays very mild for the night.
Clouds will build in Wichita with temperatures staying in the 70’s. Storms will build east around 1 and 2 in the afternoon. At the same time, blizzard like conditions will fire up in NW Kansas. It will start off as rain, but temperatures drop through the day.
All and all this will be a messy situation for the entire state Friday. If you are going to travel west, watch for heavy snow and strong winds. If you travel east, watch for severe storms with large hail and the possibility of tornadoes. The entire KSN Storm Tracker 3 team will be watching all of this as it unfold across the Sunflower state.
