This week features more wild temperature swings, from winter to spring back to winter in a matter of days. With the daily changes comes the wicked winds, raising concern for fire danger.
Pack on the layers this morning, we’re in the freezer once again.
Winds kick up from the south today sending the thermometer to the top! Toasty warmth across western Kansas with highs in the 70s and 80s. Not nearly as warm in the Metro but we’ll take it after yesterday’s balmy high of 36.
The heat gets turned off tonight as another cold front comes barreling down. Some serious winds will be felt, especially in western Kansas. Wind gusts could top 70 MPH.
With the fierce winds, comes the fire danger. Fire weather watch issued for the Metro for Tuesday. Burn ban is in effect for Sedgwick and surrounding counties for the entire month of April.
The winds relax Tuesday night and turn back around on Wednesday, sending temperatures back up. Staying below the norm for this time of year.
Rain chances look minimal this week. Looking ahead to our next meaningful chance to return for week’s end. Stay tuned.
