A few overnight showers in Western Kansas quickly fizzled out while we were all sleeping and left area skies pretty clear and dry.

Thursday morning will be calm and quiet with a mainly clear sky and temperatures in the middle 60s. A south wind will pick up a bit through the day to help high temperatures warm into the low 90s during the afternoon.

Skies will be mostly to partly sunny. We’ll get the most sunshine during the morning because we’ll see some fair weather clouds develop during the afternoon. Another slim chance of a shower or storm will be confined to Western Kansas late in the afternoon and evening.

Other than that, many of us can expect another nice evening as temperatures cool through the 80s and 70s. Area winds pick up even more Friday to send high temperatures closer to the middle 90s. There’s a slightly better chance for a few showers and storms in Western Kansas during the second half of the day.

Some could make their way into Central Kansas late in the evening and during the overnight.

The severe risk is low at this point but a stronger storm can’t be ruled out. We’ll have a better chance at seeing some unsettled skies next week but it’ll still be hot in the low to middle 90s.
