On Ronelle’s Radar: Hot, stormy start to the work week

Weather Blog

While a few showers or non-severe storms can’t be ruled out across the area this morning, Wichita should stay pretty dry. However, we’ll see a lot of leftover clouds once the sun comes up.

Temperatures start off warm around the middle 70s. Clouds gradually break through the day, turning partly cloudy by lunchtime. Temperatures will also warm into the low 90s by then. Highs top out in the upper 90s to make for a hot start to the work week.

The humidity will make it feel like 100+. Much of the area should be dry early in the afternoon as the atmosphere tries to reset itself. A cold front in North Kansas will slowly start to move south and set off a few storms north and west of Wichita late in the afternoon.

Rain chances ramp up into the evening as strong storms in Colorado push into Western Kansas where there is a Slight Risk for severe weather.

Scattered severe storms are possible, damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. Storms will move into Central Kansas after midnight but will have also weakened.

Storm chances continue into Tuesday morning but it’ll be a cooler day as the cold front completely moves through. Highs will be in the middle to upper 80s. There’s another small chance of a shower or storm Tuesday night but after that the rest of the week is looking dry, warm, and sunny.
