Rain has started changing to snow in Western Kansas where road conditions are already getting slick.
More of this wintry change will happen as we get closer to the evening. Wichita won’t see a change to a mix until late tonight.
Snow and a rain/snow mix will continue to fall through the night and into Saturday. Wintry weather will wrap up by the lunch hour in Western Kansas. Central Kansas could still have some snow and rain/snow showers around through mid afternoon.
And Eastern Kansas will see lingering snow through Saturday night. That means snow will still be falling during the Chiefs game.
And travelers to and from Arrowhead Stadium will need to use extra caution on the roads. Winds will be gusty through Saturday so it won’t just be about the slick conditions, but we could see reduced visibility at times due to blowing snow too.
Northern Kansas will see the heaviest amounts total 4″ to 6+” with lesser amounts south. It could always be worse though. Even more snow will fall east of Kansas City. High temperatures will be in the 30s over the weekend so everyone will need to dress warm.
We’ll catch a break from active weather through much of the upcoming work week as temperatures bounce between the 40s and 50s. But it’s looking like another batch of rain and snow could move in Friday.
