Teachman’s Take: Friday Evening Storms, “Cooler” Weekend

Weather Blog

This afternoon, scattered showers have developed across central and eastern Kansas.

This activity will shift to the southeast early this evening and make way for stronger storms to come in from the southwestern part of the state.

A few of these storms could be severe.

A Slight Risk has been posted for southern Kansas, including the Wichita area, for large hail and damaging winds.  Heavy rainfall will also accompany these storms.

Overnight, the storms will move out.

Sunshine will return for the weekend with a slight reduction in the heat and humidity.

Highs will fall into the lower 90s.  There is a chance for a couple of storms to blossom in western Kansas by evening in western Kansas.  None of that will make it into the Wichita area.

Next week, unsettled skies will be with us each day.  However, Wichita may miss out on most of the rainfall until later in the work week.  I’ll explain tonight on KSN News. – Chief Meteorologist Lisa Teachman
