Teachman's Take: RAIN! It's Still Coming!

It was a GORGEOUS one, wasn't it?  Temps were nice and comfy.  The winds were significantly lighter.  And we had plenty of sunshine.  I hope you enjoyed today because rain is on our doorstep.

Overnight, you may smell some smoke or see it in parts of the state.  Folks are doing some controlled burns in the Flint Hills and the direction of the wind may bring it to your house.  Temps overnight will be cool in the 30s as clouds move in from the west to the east.

By dawn, a few showers are possible in western Kansas the closer you get to the Kansas/Colorado state line.

Showers will continue to favor this part of the state for much of the day.  By late evening, the rain will make its way to the Wichita Metro.

Showers will continue off and off through Saturday.

Rainfall amounts will vary depending on location and where the stronger bands of rain line up.  I can see a couple of areas that could see 0.75" to more than an inch.

This includes far western Kansas and areas south of Wichita.  This is the most promising chance for rain we've had in a while.  Of course, the timing of this isn't great because Saturday is a huge prom day in parts of the state.  Right now, it looks like a lot of the rain will start to taper by dinnertime on Saturday, but I'd still take an umbrella to protect the hair and the dress!  Join me tonight on KSN News for the latest on this storm's track and how it will affect your weekend plans. - Chief Meteorologist Lisa Teachman
