Skies have turned stormy over western Kansas.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 1 AM. Wichita is included! Damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall are possible.
As these storms march closer to Wichita, they should weaken. Rainfall amounts will be greatest out west with less to the east.
These storms should wrap up before dawn on Saturday. Another round may try to form in south central and southeast Kansas by early afternoon with isolated storms out west.
There is another chance for severe storms late in the weekend. The timing of this has been moved up from Sunday afternoon through early Sunday night.
All forms of severe weather cannot be ruled out, but at this point, damaging winds will be of most concern. An Enhanced Risk is already up for the heart of the state.
Tonight on KSN News, I’ll continue to track this evening’s severe storms and help you prepare for Sunday’s round. – Chief Meteorologist Lisa Teachman
