The blizzard rages on in northwest Kansas this morning, causing whiteout conditions and accumulating snow. Track the radar right here: http://www.ksn.com/weather/radar
Slick roads and reduced visibility are causing roads to shut down in northwest Kansas. Stay home today if you can!
The winds are not only causing blizzard conditions in the northwest, but they’re generally becoming a nuisance all across the state. Gusts have been up to 60 mph – so hang on tight to that steering wheel!
These gusty northwest winds are also making it absolutely frigid this morning. Wind chills are down into the teens and single digits, and it’ll stay brutally cold all day long!
Actual temperatures will stay in the 30s and 40s today, along with cloudy skies, very strong winds, and a light rain/snow mix for Wichita, but still with blowing and accumulating snow up north.
Much of the snow has already fallen in northwest Kansas this morning, but an additional 1-3″ of snow is expected in northcentral Kansas throughout the day today, with no more than a dusting expected for the Wichita Metro.
The snow will then clear out this evening, leaving us with a still windy and frigid night, as temperatures once again drop down to near record lows!
I’ll have more updates on our wild weekend weather, all morning on KSN.
